Susan Marlowe CPA updates her dog information, trivia and more fun stuff

Hello from Susan Marlowe CPA. I hope everyone is having a great autumn. I am hoping to update my blog and get some more great dog information for my readers. I am so happy to hear all of your feedback.

What else is going on with Susan Marlowe? Well, I have been speaking to my friend who is a certified public accountant. I am planning a trip to Los Angeles and I hope to have a good time there. I am also going to be working on a book about dog trivia from around the world.

I am also looking forward to my trip and also my book. In the meantime, I am spending a lot of time at the gym, trying to get in shape for the new year. That's what's been happening in Susan Marlowe's world.

I also have been enjoying the Beverly Hills Cop films. Too funny! Beverly Hills Cop films are always a great thing in my opinion. I hope everyone has enjoyed my little detour. Thanks from Susan Marlowe CPA!

More dog fun from Susan Marlowe CPA, latest news updates and more stuff

Welcome to my blog once again. How are things going with Susan Marlowe CPA? I am back to blogging after a little break. I am no excited to write about more great dog facts and to share fun dog stories. I am in such a good mood because winter is coming, my favorite season.

Here are some tips for helping your little darlings during the winter. Dogs shouldn't be out in the elements too much. It can be a challenge to keep dogs occupied and happy when they are stuck inside for the winter. This is a great time to think of toys and games to keep your dog occupied and happy throughout the cold months.

So, what else can Susan Marlowe give tips about? Well, I am also looking into heated dog beds. I think they are great solutions. I have actually given many of these dog beds to my dog loving friends. They really seem to enjoy them. They are especially good for older dogs who may have arthritis.

I hope you enjoyed this information. Thanks from Susan Marlowe CPA

Susan Marlowe CPA on dog breeds

Hello from Susan Marlowe CPA. I wanted to take this chance to encourage everyone reading my blog to be sure to take a look at mixed breed dogs at animal shelters before going to a breeder. The dedicated volunteers at the animal shelters will be happy to match you up with the dog of your dreams, even if that dog is not a pure bred.

Dog food brands reviewed | Susan Marlowe CPA

Hello from Susan Marlowe CPA So, what does your dog eat? This can be a difficult question to answer. Many factors such as your pet's health and personal taste come into play. Let's look at some pet food reviews:

Dog Food Advisor

This is a really great site that I refer to often when I am choosing dog food. But let's not forget your most important source: other pet owners. They can tell you how their dogs reacted to the various food brands and give you great hints on how to feed your dog.

Susan Marlowe CPA talks about allergies

Hello from Susan Marlowe CPA! It may come as a surprise for you to hear that dogs can have allergies too. We humans may be snuffling away but some of our furry friends can be just as miserable in the Spring and Summer, when many allergens are floating around. Thanks from Susan Marlowe CPA!

Also, please do not overlook food allergies in dogs. Allergies to corn or peanuts can be dangerous for humans. The same is true for dogs! If your dogs shows signs of indigestion, the food may be to blame. Speaking as a CPA, Susan Marlowe recommends reading your labels carefully. You can save a life.

Susan K Marlowe thanks you for visiting this blog.

Clicker training

Hi there from Susan Marlowe CPA of Dallas!
I make no secret of the fact that I am a huge fan of clicker training. It is a positive, fun and enjoyable way to train your dog. Old methods of dog training involving choke chains and other unpleasant sensations made training a chore for you and could sometimes terrorize the poor dog. With clicker training, the dog actually looks forward to the training sessions. It's wonderful.

I hesitated to start clicker training at first because I thought it was gimmicky. Actually, though, it is based on solid logic and an understanding of the canine mind. The clicker creates a unique sound that is only used when you want the dog to know "that's what I wanted" and the following treat ensures that the pooch remembers that the clicker is a great thing.

My chihuahua is quite the little performer and he always looks forward to clicker time. You can ween the dog off treats after a while, giving a treat every 3 or 4 clicks. Best of all, it increases your dog's obedience overall. The dog knows that if you call him, you mean to treat them. What could be better?

Designer Dogs

Hello from Susan Marlowe CPA. I am going to blog about the "designer dog" today. What is a designer dog? Well, lately it has become a fad for people to cross two or more different breeds of dogs together to create a new breed. Dogs that were once labeled mutts are now selling for hundreds of dollars. The upside is that it shows people are more accepting of mixed breed dogs. The downside is that some backyard breeders and puppy mill operators have found a new source of income and that more dogs are being bred than ever.

Before you are seduced into buying a labradoodle or a boxita or a cavalon, please check out your local shelter or rescue. There are numerous chihuahua, poodle and labrador mixes just waiting for you to adopt them. They may not have the trendy names but they are wonderful, sweet dogs. I hope that you will take my advice and embrace the joy of owning a mutt.

Here are some advantages of owning just a good old-fashioned mutt:

  • They are often healthier
  • They are cheap, sometimes free
  • They often live longer
  • They make great conversation pieces! (Yes, my dog is half Collie, half Airedale, half Pekinese, half St. Bernard with just a pinch of Spitz.)
  • They are populist. What could be more American than a dog with twelve different breeds from three different continents. It's downright patriotic to own a mutt!

Fascinating dog quotations, courtesy of Susan Marlowe CPA

Hello, Susan Marlowe CPA here with some quotations about dogs!

I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.  For me they are the role model for being alive.  ~Gilda Radner

Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job.  ~Franklin P. Jones

To his dog, every man is Napoleon; hence the constant popularity of dogs.  ~Aldous Huxley

Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man, without his Vices.  This Praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery if inscribed over human ashes, is but a just tribute to the Memory of Boatswain, a Dog.  ~George Gordon, Lord Byron, "Inscription on the Monument of a Newfoundland Dog"

My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to 99 cents a can.  That's almost $7.00 in dog money.  ~Joe Weinstein

Dog days

Dallas weather predicted to be over 90 today. With summer here, I thought I would like to write about keeping your dog safe and happy in the heat. It's no secret that your dog can overheat if you are not a responsible pet owner. Here are some common sense tips:

  • Never leave your dog in a car
  • Provide your dog with plenty of water. An ice lick is another great tool in keeping your pup safe.
  • Make sure your dog has shade available
  • If the weather is really hot, just bring your dog inside! Let your best friend cool down under the ac or cooler
  • Schedule bathroom breaks around cooler times of day
  • Pay attention! If your dog looks ill or droopy, take action!

These are my personal tip and not meant to take the place of the advice of a veterinarian or other animal professional.

Keep your dog friend safe! Thanks from Susan Marlowe CPA!
